Take a Slide, Play a Game

Winter is only a drag if you make it one. Around here, you either learn to embrace winter and have fun with it or you spend six months in a very, very bad mood. The earlier we teach our kids that, the better! And one thing even the smallest kid can enjoy is sledding. Starting at 4 pm today, the Fridge refrigerated toboggan run at Waterford Oaks County Park in Oakland County is having a "Get Your Game On" event. Enjoy slides down the 55-foot run, which can reach speeds up to 30 miles per hour. Surprisingly, kids as small as 30 inches can ride, which covers most little ones.

After -- or between -- rides, you can warm up in the Lodge and play board games. It's a little pricey -- $10 for unlimited runs or $2.50 for a single run --but it sounds like an experience that would be totally worth it and a great chance to get out of the house.
